Easy DIY Hand Painted Sign

We just moved into a new home and so I have been trying to decorate and find some fun ideas for my walls.   I have always loved the look of a  hand painted sign!  My family room has a large empty wall, so I thought that it would be a perfect spot for a cute sign. I had found some signs on the internet that I absolutely loved but couldn’t justify the cost, especially once you add in the cost of shipping. Yikes!

I was in a crafty mood, so  I decided to go ahead and see if I could make my own painted sign. I found some left over wood that we had on hand and went to work.  Lightly, I  painted the wood with leftover white paint to achieve that rustic look.  Next, I worked on the the lettering. I printed out the size and font that I wanted to use. Then, I cut the lettering out and simply traced it on the wood for my stencil. Super Easy!! My kind of project!! I painted in the lettering with black paint and let it dry.  Then lightly sanded the top of the entire sign. Once I was done with painting, I used some heavy-duty hooks to hang the sign with.

This was such a fun project and I love how it turned out! I seriously spent nothing on this sign!  This makes me excited to try some more fun projects with wood!  Happy Painting!!
